Survey Partnerships

5Essentials Surveys Partnerships

Starting in 2011, the UChicago Consortium began to partner with UChicago Impact to administer the 5Essentials Survey. This was the first year that the survey went online, and all Chicago 5Essentials school reports became public. Since its online launch in 2011, the UChicago Consortium has continued to work with Impact to improve and monitor survey quality.

Early Education Essentials Partnerships

For more than twenty years, researchers at the UChicago Consortium have been studying elementary and high schools and what makes them successful. Similarly, for more than 20 years, applied researchers at the Ounce of Prevention Fund (Ounce) have been studying what it takes for early childhood education (ECE) programs to successfully implement high-quality programming.

In 2014, the Ounce and the UChicago Consortium combined their knowledge of program implementation and school improvement, seeking to better understand the relevance of essential organizational supports to the performance of ECE settings. Since then, the team has been working to develop and validate the Early Education Essentials. With the validation work complete, the Early Education Essentials team anticipates partnering with UChicago Impact to begin administering the survey during the 2019-20 school year.

Cultivate Partnerships

To provide clear and actionable data and insights, Consortium researchers, including the Consortium Equitable Learning & Development Group, partnered with UChicago Impact and partner districts and schools to create a reporting system to help schools interpret and use survey data, as well as practice guides that offer teachers objectives and strategies tied to each of the nine learning conditions on the survey. These partnerships will continue as the survey is monitored and refined.
