For years, incoming Evanston Township High School freshmen who scored off the charts had the opportunity to take an honors course in humanities. Most of the students in the class were white.
Next fall, that course ends. The highest achievers will be taught with classmates who wouldn't have qualified for the honors track. One size will fit nearly all. (Students who don't read at grade level will take a different course.)
