CPS seeks to "transform" four high schools

CPS was awarded on Thursday a $25 million federal School Improvement Grant to perform what is called “transformation” on four high schools and to turnaround one.

Transformation is a process in which a newer principal works with an outside institution–sometimes a curriculum company or a university–to improve the school without firing all the staff, as in a turnaround.
