The Pritzker Family Foundation is giving $2.5 million to the University of Chicago's Urban Education Institute.

The institute, which prepares teachers, runs four charter campuses and produces research on Chicago Public Schools through the Consortium on Chicago School Research, was established in 2008. The Pritzker Foundation is overseen by members of the Pritzker family, including Penny S. Pritzker, who will be sworn as a new board member of Chicago Public Schools in June, and Thomas Pritzker, whose wife, Margot, serves on the University of Chicago charter school's governing board.
