Thanks to last year’s graduating class, Onamia secondary school’s seventh grade class was able to go see a movie at the Grand Makwa on Friday, Nov. 21, as a reward for being the class with the best attendance in the first quarter of school. At the Monday, Nov. 17, school board meeting, dean of students Jim Stott reported that the 2014 graduating class’s Positive Awards for Worthy Students initiative – PAWS – bequeathed $3,300 to the school for recognition of positive student achievements.

In the first quarter of school, overall secondary school attendance was 92 percent, but the seventh graders came in highest at over 94 percent.
