Chicago Public Schools delivered good news on Labor Day — the fruits, you could say, of many people's spirited labor:

The district reported that its five-year graduation rate surged to a record high of 73.5 percent. That's up from 69.9 percent last year. And up an astonishing 16 percentage points since 2011 (when, not coincidentally, Mayor Rahm Emanuel took office)...
