Sabina Shaikh is a Senior Instructional Professor and Director of Academic Programs in the Committee on Environment, Geography and Urbanization (CEGU), and affiliated faculty member of the Committee on Southern Asia Studies at the University of Chicago. Her research examines on human interactions with the environment, focusing on the societal aspects of environmental transformations and sustainable urban development. She currently has funded research projects on green schoolyards as climate resilience in Chicago and Paris, and the study of global urban rivers and sustainability planning. Her work on environment and migration in Cambodia has been published in World Development, The Bulletin of the World Health Organization, and Migration and Development. Recent publications include co-authorship of the book Our Urban Future: An Active Learning Guide to Sustainable Cities, published by MIT Press, and the article “The Economic Standing of Animals,” published in the Social Science and Humanities Open.
