Jeffrey Schiman

Jeffrey Schiman works with the UChicago Consortium to study school leaders. At the UChicago Consortium, he has written on the variation in principal effectiveness as well as how district incentive policies and the structure of school governance influence principal employment and student outcomes. In collaboration with members of the Consortium team, he is currently studying how principals influence long-term student success. Jeffrey is an Assistant Professor of economics at Georgia Southern University. His research interests include the economics of education, labor economics, and public economics. He has published on topics including principal and teacher quality, the educator labor market, and the return to classroom instruction time.
