Overview

This is the first report in a two-part series. Here we focus on three of the essential supports for student learning in Pathways to Achievement: school leadership, parental involvement, and professional community and development.

After five years of school reform, 8,800 Chicago teachers offer their opinions on the progress of reform in their schools. Teachers' survey responses are related to three of the five essential supports for student learning: school leadership, parent involvement, and professional community. The contrasts between the responses of teachers in high schools and elementary schools are broad, and these differences are explored.
