Going beyond the traditional academic definition of college readiness, Jenny Nagaoka and Matthew Holsapple draw on Consortium research to consider the role of noncognitive factors in preparing students for postsecondary success.

The paper examines why students often struggle in the transition to college, and describes how high schools can foster the development of noncognitive factors, as well as the role of higher education in supporting students to further develop these skills once they arrive at college.
